Iwakuma tosses gem

Kyodo

Hisashi Iwakuma delivered the goods in his first complete game of the season as the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles rallied to beat the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks 2-1 on Saturday.

Akihito Fujii had a bases-loaded tying single with one out in the sixth inning and pinch-hitter Fernando Seguignol followed with a sacrifice fly for the go-ahead run at Kleenex Stadium.

Iwakuma (5-1) got off to a shady start, surrendering a first-inning RBI double to Jose Ortiz but settled down later. He scattered seven hits, struck out six and walked two. Yasushi Kamiuchi (2-1) took the loss.

Fighters 7, Buffaloes 3

At Osaka’s Kyocera Dome, Shugo Fujii limited the damage to two runs in 5 1/3 innings to set the pace as Pacific League leader Hokkaido Nippon Ham won its third straight and seventh in eight games.

Terrmel Sledge broke a 1-1 tie with a solo homer in the second followed by Yoshio Itoi’s blast — both off Satoshi Komatsu (0-5) — to make it 3-1 in the fourth. The Fighters added four runs in the final three frames.

Marines 6, Lions 4

At Chiba Marine Stadium, Chase Lambin hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning as Lotte rallied to beat Seibu for its first win in three games.

Lambin’s two-out, bases-loaded double put Lotte ahead 5-4 and another run came in on a wild pitch from Shinya Okamoto in the eighth.

Colby Lewis and Tetsuya Utsumi both pitched seven shutout innings as Hiroshima and Yomiuri played out a scoreless, 12-inning tie.

Hiroshima blew a chance to win the game in the bottom of the 11th when Masato Akamatsu and Eishin Soyogi were retired with runners on first and second.

Central League leader Yomiuri managed just five hits and Hiroshima three.

Swallows 4, Tigers 1

At Jingu Stadium, Jamie D’Antona and Shinya Miyamoto both homered to back Shohei Tateyama, who pitched one-run ball over eight effective innings as Yakult won its fourth straight by beating Hanshin.

Dragons 2, BayStars 1 (10)

At Nagoya Doome, Tony Blanco singled in the winning run in the 10th inning to give Chunichi its second straight walk-off victory over Yokohama.
