Sakamoto hits slam as Giants win rout

Hayato Sakamoto hit a grand slam to record his career first home run and Hiroshi Kisanuki pitched eight strong innings Sunday as the Yomiuri Giants romped 9-1 over the Hanshin Tigers to win their second game this season.

Yoshinobu Takahashi gave Yomiuri a 2-0 lead with a two-run blast in the third and Sakamoto’s drive to the seats in left capped a six-run fifth at Tokyo Dome. Takahashi went deep to right again with a solo shot in the eighth.

At Hiroshima Stadium, Soichiro Amaya, Eishin Soyogi, Alex Ochoa and Go Kida homered as the Carp routed Yokohama in an 18-hit onslaught.

At Chiba Marine Stadium, backup catcher Masahiko Tanaka hit a game-tying single and Tsuyoshi Nishioka drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Chiba Lotte came from behind to beat Softbank.

At Kobe’s Skymark Stadium, Eiichi Koyano hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly and Ryan Glynn threw seven solid innings as Hokkaido Nippon Ham beat Orix.
