Company finishes career in style

KYOTO (Kyodo) Top favorite Company stormed to victory in the Mile Championship to go out in style in the final race of his career on Sunday.

With jockey Norihiro Yokoyama at the bridle, the 8-year-old Tenno-sho winner darted his way through the pack on the final stretch to cover the 1,600-meter grass surface in 1 minute, 33.2 seconds at Kyoto Racecourse.

"He is a spectacular horse. Today his condition was great and he got a strong start. I led him inside the pack without any hesitation. I had a lot of confidence that we could win. I didn't worry about the other horses ahead of us," said Yokoyama.
