Alfredsson double extends Flyers' skid

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Ottawa's Daniel Alfredsson scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 8:25 left, and the Senators defeated Philadelphia 6-3 to extend the Flyers' franchise-record losing streak to nine NHL games on Saturday.

Joseph Corvo, Chris Phillips, Denis Hamel, and Peter Schaefer also scored for Ottawa.

The Senators were without leading scorer Jason Spezza, who suffered a knee injury against Tampa on Thursday and is out indefinitely.

Ben Eager, Jeff Carter and Kyle Calder scored for the Flyers, who set a franchise record by losing their sixth straight home game.

Islanders 4, Blue Jackets 0

In Uniondale, N.Y., Rick DiPietro stopped 26 shots for his third shutout this season and the Islanders first win over Columbus.

Jason Blake, Trent Hunter, Mike Sillinger and Viktor Kozlov each scored for New York, 0-2-5 in seven previous games against the Jackets. Alexei Yashin and Radek Martinek had two assists apiece.

Capitals 3, Maple Leafs 2

In Toronto, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 24th goal, Olaf Kolzig made 35 saves, and Washington held on to beat the Maple Leafs.

Alexander Semin and Dainius Zubrus also scored power-play goals for the Capitals.

Mats Sundin scored twice in the third period to rally Toronto. He scored on a penalty shot at 3:16 and again just 14 seconds later.

Thrashers 5, Devils 2

In Atlanta, Shane Hnidy scored the go-ahead goal in the second period, and Slava Kozlov padded the lead midway through the third to lead the Thrashers.

Atlanta has won three straight overall and three in a row over New Jersey, including two victories in five days. The Thrashers have six consecutive victories over the Devils at Philips Arena.

Bruins 4, Canadiens 2

In Boston, Milan Jurcina and Stanislav Chistov scored 1:11 apart early in the third period to help the Bruins snap Montreal's five-game winning streak.

Marco Sturm had a power-play goal for Boston, and Zdeno Chara had the other score to help the Bruins win their third straight.

Lightning 4, Rangers 3

In Tampa, Fla., Dan Boyle had three goals and an assist during a four-goal third period, rallying the Lightning from a 3-0 deficit.

Tampa Bay appeared headed to its ninth loss in 12 games. However, Boyle changed the momentum with two goals in the first 2:29 of the third.

'Canes 3, Panthers 2 (OT)

In Sunrise, Fla., Erik Cole scored 1:59 into overtime to lift Carolina to its fourth straight win.

It was Cole's 15th goal of the season, giving him a point in five straight games. Ray Whitney and Justin Williams also scored for the Hurricanes, who won despite notching a season-low 15 shots in regulation.

Wild 3, Red Wings 2 (OT)

In St. Paul, Minn., Pierre-Marc Bouchard beat Chris Osgood on a breakaway to give the Wild their NHL-leading 11th overtime victory.

Bouchard grabbed a turnover by Pavel Datsyuk at the blue line, then lifted a backhand shot over Osgood's glove.

Blues 3, Sabres 2 (OT)

In St. Louis, Bill Guerin scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Blues.

Guerin took a feed from Doug Weight near Buffalo's net and knocked in his team-leading 15th goal of the season 1:35 into overtime.

It was St. Louis' season-high third straight win of the season.

Stars 3, Oilers 2

In Dallas, Jon Klemm had a goal and and assist for his first two points of the season, Marty Turco stopped 20 shots and the Stars won for the third time in four games.

Jere Lehtinen and Philippe Boucher also scored and Eric Lindros had two assists for Dallas.

Predators 7, Kings 0

In Nashville, Jason Arnott, J.P Dumont and David Legwand each scored twice and Chris Mason had 34 saves to lead the Predators.

Paul Kariya also scored for Nashville and Mason got his third shutout of the season. It also marked the first time in franchise history three Predators scored two goals in a game.

Coyotes 2, Ducks 0

In Glendale, Ariz., Shane Doan and Fredrik Sjostrom scored 13 seconds apart late in the third period to help Phoenix snap its eight-game losing streak against Anaheim.

Michael Tellqvist made 29 saves for his third career shutout and first for the Coyotes.

Avalanche 3, Blackhawks 2

In Denver, Wojtek Wolski scored two goals and Jose Theodore stopped 17 shots to lead Colorado.

It was Wolski's first multigoal game of the season. Joe Sakic added a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, winners of four straight at home.

Sharks 4, Flames 1

In San Jose, Marcel Goc, Milan Michalek, Mark Smith and Scott Hannan scored for the Sharks and Evgeni Nabokov made 21 saves for his fourth straight victory.

Matthew Lombardi scored for Calgary, which lost for the sixth time in its last nine road games. The Flames, playing for the first time since their game Thursday night in Denver was postponed because of a blizzard, finished 2-3 on a five-game trip.
