Yamaguchi extends lead to four

FUKUROI, Shizuoka Pref. (Kyodo) Overnight leader Hiroko Yamaguchi opened up a four-shot lead after shooting a 1-under-par 71 in the second round of the Yamaha Ladies Open on Saturday. Yamaguchi, who had a one-stroke advantage after an opening 69, held steady with three birdies and two bogeys in fickle winds to set herself up for her second career victory on the Japan LPGA tour and first in seven years. Yamaguchi rebounded from a bogey on the opening hole to make back-to-back birdies from No. 7. She also recovered quickly from a dropped shot on the 17th to birdie the last and finished the day at 4-under 140 at Katsuragi Golf Club.
