Wednesday, April 30, 2008 Eriksson's coaching job in jeopardyLONDON (AP) Sven-Goran Eriksson's agent says the former England coach is unlikely to stay at Manchester City next season. The 60-year-old Eriksson took over as City manager in July and had a strong start to the season as City temporarily topped the Premier League. But City has won just seven of its past 26 matches and slipped out of contention for a UEFA Cup spot. Owner Thaksin Shinawatra has publicly expressed his dissatisfaction, putting Eriksson's position in doubt. The Swede's agent Athole Still told Sky Sports News on Tuesday that it is "looking odds against" Eriksson returning to the club for a second season. The appointment of the former England, Lazio and Benfica coach in the offseason had represented a coup for the underachieving club, but City is now ninth in the 20-team Premier League with two games to play. |
