Darvish has finger fracture: club

Kyodo News

Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters ace Yu Darvish has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in the index finger of his right hand, the Pacific League club said Tuesday.

A small fracture in the joint was discovered when the 15-game winner visited a Sapporo hospital late on Monday. Darvish will have the joint immobilized for two to three weeks.

Darvish said he first experienced pain after practice on Oct. 28 but kept it to himself and threw two-run ball over six innings in a win of Game 2 of the Japan Series on Nov. 1.

The star hurler was removed from the active roster in late September due to discomfort in his throwing shoulder and lower back.
