Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 Williams, Atchison to leave TigersNISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) The Hanshin Tigers said Friday they will not re-sign relief pitchers Jeff Williams and Scott Atchison for next season. Williams underwent surgery on his left shoulder in the United States at the end of August and the club does not see a place for him in the roster for 2010. Atchison, meanwhile, is leaving the club for family reasons with the hope of pitching in the U.S. "There is no prospect for him (Williams) in the roster for next season," said senior club official Shoji Numazawa. "As for Atchison, we tried to have him remain but his will (to leave) was stronger." |
