Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 Brown agrees to take Rakuten jobSENDAI (Kyodo) Former Hiroshima Carp skipper Marty Brown has accepted the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles' offer to take over as manager, the club's owner and president Toru Shimada said Monday. "He (Brown) has indicated his acceptance," Shimada told a news conference in Sendai. Brown, who will take over from Katsuya Nomura, is expected to arrive in Japan as early as next week to formalize the appointment before joining the team for fall training. "He (Brown) has got an eye for discovering new talent and has the knowhow for developing young players," said Shimada. "His contract will be two or three years. In the medium term we want him to solidly build the team." |
