Three die in house fire in Gunma

MAEBASHI, Gunma Pref. (Kyodo) An early-morning fire that gutted a 150-sq.-meter house in Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture, claimed three lives, police said Saturday.

The victims are thought to be 59-year-old Mitsuji Seya, the owner of the house, his visiting 6-year-old granddaughter, Akari Takada, and his wife, Miwako, 60.

Police said a neighbor called for help after the fire broke out around 2:30 a.m.

Police found the body of a man in the debris of what appeared to be the living room.
