Teenager who died had swine flu

YAMAGUCHI (Kyodo) A teenager who died Saturday was infected with H1N1 swine flu, the Yamaguchi Prefectural Government said.

The student, who was in her second year of junior high school in Hikari, was suffering from asthma and a chronic lung disorder and died of cardiac arrest, prefectural officials said Sunday.

Her name and age were withheld.

The teen was hospitalized Nov. 16 for pneumonia and was given the antiviral drug Relenza on Friday to treat a high fever, but her condition worsened on Saturday, the officials said.
