Four dead, three missing after boat, ship collide off Nagasaki

KITAKYUSHU (Kyodo) Four people died and three disappeared after a Hong Kong cargo ship and a South Korean fishing boat collided off the west coast of Nagasaki Prefecture, the Japan Coast Guard said Sunday.

The 29-ton fishing boat 3 Dae Kyong capsized after hitting the 3,843-ton freighter Joshu Maru at around 10 p.m. Saturday 130 km west of Fukue Island, the coast guard said.

Of the nine aboard the fishing boat, two were rescued by the cargo vessel. Four were found dead inside the boat by South Korean authorities and the remaining three were missing.
