First H1N1 pig infection suspected

OSAKA (Kyodo) A pig in Osaka Prefecture may be the first H1N1 infection of swine in Japan, the prefecture and farm ministry said Tuesday.

Confirmation of whether the animal is infected with the new strain of influenza, which was originally a variation of swine flu, is pending at the National Institute of Animal Health in Tsukuba in Ibaraki Prefecture.
