Yamaguchi death toll climbs to 10

YAMAGUCHI (Kyodo) The death toll from Tuesday's mudslides and flooding caused by torrential downpours in Yamaguchi Prefecture has risen to 10, local police said Thursday.

In the hardest-hit city of Hofu, a man was found dead near a road after being buried under tress that were washed away in a mudslide, while the body of a woman was recovered from a bathroom at a nursing home for the elderly, the police said.
