Son kills mom after reunion

KANAZAWA, Ishikawa Pref. (Kyodo) A 46-year-old man was arrested Monday for stabbing his mother to death in her home in Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture, after the two reunited for the first time in 20 years.

Police received a call at 9:20 a.m. from a man saying he had killed his mother. When they arrived at the scene, they found Tomiko Omura, 79, lying on the first floor with a neck wound. Masahiko Omura, the victim's second son, confessed at the scene and was arrested.

The victim had been living with her oldest son and his wife. Masahiko Omura came to visit Sunday for the first time in about 20 years but left that night. Police suspect he came back and killed his mother after his brother and his wife left for work Monday morning.
