Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 Guest slain in Manila hotel roomMANILA (Kyodo) A 62-year-old Japanese man was found stabbed to death in the bathroom of his Manila hotel room three days after he arrived in the Philippines, police said Monday. The police were called Sunday to Manor Hotel, where staff found the body of Yoshihisa Inoue, a native of Gunma Prefecture. The initial investigation showed Inoue arrived in Manila on Thursday and checked in to the hotel around 11 p.m. Saturday. The police said hotel staff were forced to open the door of the victim's room after their telephone calls went unanswered. The TV was also blaring when the staff went in, they said. Hotel staff found the victim's naked body, bloodied inside the bathroom. His body bore eight stab wounds. "The room was in disarray," said a police report, adding that "a handle of a stainless fan knife (a type of folding pocket knife) was found on the bed with blood-soaked blankets and sheets." Inoue is the seventh Japanese national murdered in the Philippines this year. |
