The Fujisawa Municipal Government said the 67-year-old woman's symptoms were not severe and she has recovered. It has asked the supermarket that sold her the noodles to suspend sales of the product.

According to Fujisawa, the woman vomited and felt her tongue go numb after eating a Cup Noodle meal made by Nissin Food Products Co. on Monday evening. She recalled smelling a chemical odor when she unsealed the cup, it said.

The instant noodles were made at Nissin's factory in Toride, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Aug. 3 and were supposed to be consumable through Jan. 30, 2009, company officials said, adding that an investigation was under way. The woman bought the noodles around Sept. 29, the city said.
