Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 Victims soon to access minors' trialsKyodo News
The revised Juvenile Law, under which victims of serious crimes allegedly committed by juveniles will be able to observe their trials, will go into force Dec. 15. Juvenile court has always been held behind closed doors. The observations will have to be approved after family courts examine the backgrounds of accused juvenile offenders and hear what their defense lawyers have to say. The Diet approved the revision in June with broad multipartisan support. |
