Summerlike temperatures of more than 25 degrees hit Tokyo and other areas of Japan on Monday for the first time this year as a high pressure system covered the archipelago from the south, the Meteorological Agency said. The mercury shot up to 29.6 at one point in Tatebayashi, Gunma Prefecture, and topped 25 in the Tohoku, Kanto, Hokuriku, Kinki and Chugoku regions. Tokyo marked 25.8, Yamagata 26.0, Fukushima 28.6, Fukui 27.6, Osaka 26.3 and Tottori 28.0. |
