Junior high also shorted on classes

MATSUYAMA, Ehime Pref. (Kyodo) A private junior high school in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, has not offered enough time for a compulsory technical arts and home economics course, its officials said Friday.

Government curriculum guidelines stipulate the standard course for the subject is 175 hours during the three-year period, but the course taught at Aiko Junior High School is only 82 hours.

It was revealed recently that hundreds of high schools nationwide have fallen short of the correct curricula, prompting education minister Bummei Ibuki to say Thursday he will check elementary and junior high schools soon as well.
