Polish airline to get Narita slots

Kyodo News

Japan and Poland have agreed to allow a Polish airline to operate three weekly flights to Narita International Airport after landing and departure slots are increased next March, the government said Wednesday.

As a result, LOT Polish Airline is expected to launch direct flights between Warsaw and Narita. At present, there are no direct flights between Japan and Poland.

Under current restrictions, Polish carriers can only operate flights to Kansai International Airport and Japanese airlines can only fly to Warsaw.

With the agreement, Japanese and Polish airlines will be allowed to increase weekly round-trip flights between the two countries to 10 from two at present, though no Japanese airline is planning to launch direct flights to Poland.
