Fried chicken prices will be increased for the first time since April 1992. The price of "original chicken" will go up to ¥230 per piece from ¥210 at present.

The average hike for 22 products, about half of KFC Japan's lineup, is put at 6.8 percent.

Chicken costs are rising on spikes in prices of feed grains, while wheat and frying oil prices have also increased.

KFC Japan said it has no choice but to raise product prices in order to maintain the quality of products and services.
