Nintendo game consoles top attractive goods list for '07

Nintendo Co.'s DS portable and Wii gaming consoles occupy the top two slots in a list of Japan's most "attractive" products or topics for 2007, Dentsu Inc. said Wednesday.

The list is based on an Internet poll of 1,000 consumers above age 14 Dentsu took in Japan in early November. Poll-takers were asked to name products that bring people together for entertainment or help them find topics for conversation, an official of the advertising giant said.

Game magazine publisher Enterbrain Inc. separately reported the same day that Nintendo had sold over 20 million DS portables as of Sunday — about three years after they debuted in December 2004.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.'s PlayStation 2 console took about six years and nine months to top the 20 million mark after its March 2000 launch.
