The Tokyo Midtown complex, built on the 10-hectare site of the former Defense Agency under a 370 billion yen project, houses luxury hotel Ritz-Carlton Tokyo on the upper floors of the tower.

The complex also houses some 130 shops and restaurants, upscale apartments, a museum and business offices, including the head offices of Fujifilm Holdings Corp. and game software and entertainment business firm Konami Corp.

Mitsui Fudosan Co., the core developer of the project, expects some 30 million visitors and sales of 30 billion yen a year for the complex's commercial facilities.

The new complex is another symbol of the Roppongi area, which is rapidly changing from just being a popular night spot.
