Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 SHORT TAKES
Yogisha X no KenshinBy MIZUHO AOKI
Director: Hiroshi Nishitani
Language: Japanese Genius mathematician Ishigami (Shinichi Tsutsumi) helps a woman (Yasuko Matsuyuki) he secretly loves to cover up a crime she has committed. The math wizard comes up with a plan that nobody but physicist Yukawa (Masaharu Fukuyama) can solve. The film is a battle of brains between the pair and has enough tension and suspense to make it an engaging movie. As for acting, Fukuyama disappoints, but Tsutumi's intense moodiness impresses. The film is based on Keigo Higashino's best-selling suspense novel.
